Day 28 The Hill

These images were captured on Day 28 of the longest government shutdown in the history of our country. I spent hours walking the halls of the Legislative Branch looking for #MITCH.  You will see my "RESIST" sign in many images; RESIST racism, sexism, RESIST alternate facts, lies, and double speak. RESIST but most importantly PERSIST!

In my quest to celebrate elected officials who are also RESISTERS & to mark those I RESIST, I  was reminded of how easy it is to make assumptions & to judge others based on solely a glance.  I am so grateful for all of the beautiful, lovely, smart, graceful, good hearted, people I encountered.  You will see their beautiful faces within this gallery. THANK YOU!

For those who may not have easy access to our nations Capitol, I hope these images will provide you w/ a peek behind the curtain. There are 3 bldgs for the House of Reps (Cannon, Longworth, and Rayburn) & 3 for the Senate (Russell, Dirksen, and Hart). All connected through a series of tunnels that converge at an epicenter that is the US Capitol. It's quite impressive, if not a bit ominous.

A few insider observations: Mitt Romney's office in the basement - interpret as you will. Rand Pauls office was the only one locked w/ a sign asking visitors to call before coming. Ted Lieu had the BEST sign on his door, there were many dogs in the bldgs & elevators were padded and adorned with embroidered emblems (hmmmmm).

So, with encouragement from JFK, I will continue to to go back to the peoples buildings & share w/ you my observations & experience through images.
